Interior Graphic Completed

Grit & Pearl and their band of merry men and women completed the painting of the interior graphic last week. Here are a couple of photos of the finished work (and one of the vinyl by night) taken by Tim Smith:

Strata Marking Out

Marking out took the best part of a day to achieve. This was about getting the anchor points in place so that the curves and full-height strata could be added later with access equipment.

The exact shade of grey still hadn't been identified so we carried out further trials comparing Leyland 'Bandhura' vinyl matt with Berger 0503-R90B vinyl matt. The Berger product shown below won out. It has interesting qualities that means it seems to alter depending upon the lighting conditions.

Vinyl Installed

The vinyl was printed and installed by Image Group, Manchester in mid-August. I've only just had a chance to visit the new building. Some images from inside and out:

The Church of St Mary the Virgin, Ovingham

From the church leaflet by David Goodacre: Thomas Bewick "was baptised in the church, was a regular worshipper in Ovingham when he was visiting Cherryburn near Mickley and was buried here with the rest of his family."

Cherryburn Visit

"Thomas Bewick (1753–1828), Northumberland's greatest artist, wood engraver and naturalist, was born in the cottage here. The nearby 19th-century farmhouse, the later home of the Bewick family, houses an exhibition on Bewick's life and work and a small shop selling books, gifts and prints from his original wood engravings. Occasional printing demonstrations take place in the adjoining barn. There are splendid views over the Tyne Valley." Source.
